IBM has unveiled the IBM Sovereign Core, the industry's first AI-ready sovereign-enabled software to build, deploy and manage AI-ready sovereign environments.
"With IBM Sovereign Core, clients can advance AI initiatives with confidence, balancing openness and agility with the compliance and operational autonomy required for sovereignty. IBM Sovereign Core helps achieve verifiable sovereignty and full operational control. The software is designed to build, deploy, and manage cloud-native and AI workloads under an organisation's own authority, within chosen jurisdictions, built on Red Hat's open source foundation.
Making sovereignty an inherent property of the software itself, it offers the following benefits to organisations:
- Customer-Operated Control Plane: Organisations maintain direct operational control over software operations, deployment decisions, and system configurations without relying on a vendor outside their region.
- In-Boundary Identity and Keys: All authentication, authorisation, encryption keys, and access management remain within jurisdictional boundaries and are under the control of the customer.
- Ongoing Compliance Enablement and Evidence of Continuous Compliance:** Comprehensive operational data, system telemetry, and audit trails are generated, stored, and managed within the sovereign boundaries. This includes automated identity management to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Governed AI Inference: The deployment and hosting of AI models, local GPU clusters, and local inference execution and agent operations are conducted under local governance, ensuring traceability and oversight without transferring data to external providers.
- Ease of Deployment: Sovereignty can be delivered at scale with both consistency and flexibility, allowing organisations to establish isolated environments with built-in multitenancy capabilities within days of deployment. Customers can also choose their preferred hardware and infrastructure.
