Ant Group has launched an AI healthcare app AQ, to fight against health misinformation in China. A new AI-powered section in the AQ app helps elderly patients identify fraudulent medical ads and health misinformation. It can also help verify the trustworthiness of a medical ad by uploading a photo, typing in text, or making a one-click voice call.
“In the age of AI, we are dedicated to combating false medical advertising and health misinformation with AQ, thus making healthcare more accessible and people’s lives healthier,” said Junjie Zhang, vice president of Ant Group and Head of Healthcare Business.
AI-powered medical advice
The AQ app, launched in June 2025, is powered by Ant Group’s Healthcare Large Model, equipped with advanced medical reasoning and multimodal interaction capabilities.
Ant Group has partnered with over 300 physicians across China to develop AI Doctor Agents within AQ, providing a comprehensive and credible healthcare knowledge and medical advice network.
Moreover, Ant Group’s online consultation platform Haodf.com offers real-time, person-to-person medical consultations via AQ with over 200,000 doctors.
Stepping up against medical misinformation
To combat medical misinformation in the healthcare sector in China, a recent notice requires medical content creators to attribute the sources of medical information.
The jointly released notice by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Health Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine also aims to ban the advertising of medical or healthcare products.
