Gartner's global chief of research, Chris Howard, and Rita Sallam, Distinguished VP analyst, both renowned experts in the field, delve into how organisations can create measurable value with AI in 2025.
AI ambition
Sallam emphasises that an organisation's AI ambition is a pivotal factor that determines the type of use cases it invests in and the percentage of investment in its portfolio.
"Are you looking to defend your competitive position in the industry? Are you looking to differentiate and extend your existing processes, or are you looking to upend your industry and invest in entirely potentially new products and services and core processes?" she asks.
Risk tolerance
Sallam posits that organisations must have a particular risk tolerance, meaning they are willing to accept a certain level of risk, to commit a percentage of their portfolio to upend the industry, and it has to be part of their AI ambition.
Collaboration
Sallam underscores that realising AI's value is a complex task that necessitates collaboration with the business, potential work redesign, change management, and risk management.
"All those things are not just under the purview of the day and analytics leader, the head of AI, or even the CIO or CTI CTO. It requires collaboration across many leaders to realise the value that we expect from these investments," she concluded.
