Dropbox, Inc. has updated Dropbox Dash, its universal search and knowledge management product, adding new capabilities such as advanced video and image search across connected platforms.

“Knowledge workers waste more than a month a year just looking for information and switching between apps,” said Drew Houston, co-founder and CEO of Dropbox. “With the new Dash, we’re not just helping you find your content faster—we’re helping you put it to work.”
Dropbox Dash
Dash’s new search works across all content types, including images, videos, and audio files, to help find information hidden inside media. Soon, its new people search will help quickly identify subject matter experts within an organisation.
Its new suite of AI writing tools helps users write drafts faster by gathering relevant information from existing content. Dash claims to be capable of analysing reports, meeting notes, and Slack conversations to provide a comprehensive summary in seconds. Dash can also create a first draft using goals from strategy docs, timelines from past campaigns, and budget considerations from finance spreadsheets, assemble it in a preferred template and write it in a team’s voice.
Customers are free to use the tools that work for them, and Dash integrates with tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Canva, and Jira to facilitate seamless work.
Security features
With the new custom exclusions feature, Dash claims to provide advanced security controls for admins to exclude sensitive content and manage access permissions across connected apps. Dash’s GDPR compliance allows teams to use it securely.
To ensure data stays within Dropbox’s trust boundary, users can always choose a self-hosted AI.
Moreover, Protect and Control capability allows businesses to secure confidential documents and manage access confidently.
