Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, services, and the continued relevance of devices and hardware are showing a strong momentum in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, according to the Fourth Annual Direction of Technology (DoT) Report by TD SYNNEX.

“The outlook in APJ remains positive, with significant opportunities in high-growth technologies,” said Jaideep Malhotra, president of TD SYNNEX, Asia Pacific & Japan. “AI, cybersecurity, and data and analytics are driving change across the ecosystem, and partners are investing to ensure these technologies are available to meet customer demand.
Positive outlook
The report has revealed that most respondents in the region focus on AI infrastructure and cloud (75.9%) and AI automation and data management (70.9%). However, more than half (54%) consider talent shortage the top hindrance to adoption.
Most partners (73.4%) offer or plan to offer at least one cybersecurity solution focusing on data and privacy (81%), network security (78%), and cloud/app security (77%). However, almost half (48%) say that their most significant challenge is skills shortages.
The report also found a shift to a service-centric model in the APJ region. Most are offering consulting or professional services (83%) and managed services (78%), but consider workforce scalability (49%) and talent recruitment and retention (41.7%) inhibit growth.
Despite the growing adoption of high-growth technologies, devices, and hardware remain relevant, with partners offering them at rates above the global averages of 68.5% and 57.6%, respectively.
“Navigating this landscape involves many moving parts, and partners need a distributor who not only simplifies complexity and accelerates go-to-market but also orchestrates these elements seamlessly to deliver tailored solutions for today’s challenges,” Malhotra added.
