A new study by Workday Inc. has revealed that upskilling employees is one of the biggest challenges for ASEAN organisations today, with (38%) reporting it as a key hurdle for their organisation, along with Performance Management (38%).
Workforce transformation
ASEAN organisations invest in employee training and development programmes (55%) to bridge skills gaps.
Moreover, most organisations (87%) are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to conduct HR functions and streamline talent management processes.
“Technology is increasingly central to how ASEAN businesses and HR leaders inform decision-making, streamline workforce processes, and drive innovation. By aligning technology innovations and employee development, organisations can transform employee engagement and capability, building a future-ready workforce and setting the stage for long-term success,” said Pannie Sia, general manager of ASEAN at Workday.
The study also revealed that 50% of ASEAN respondents invest in physical, digital, and cultural processes and programmes to increase employee retention.
The Forever Forward HR Leader
McCrindle conducted Workday’s study, The Forever Forward HR Leader. It surveyed 1,515 business leaders and HR professionals in large companies across the region, including 252 respondents in four ASEAN markets: Singapore (n=101), Malaysia (n=49), Thailand (n=50), and Indonesia (n=52).
